Don't worry we do talk about cars in the rest of the interview😉
Today was pretty cool! Got to interview Mike Brewer today at Discovery Channel UK headquarters in London. We chatted about cars and the new series of Wheeler Dealers which kicks off this Monday. Stay tuned for my exclusive interview with Mike on the Take to the Road Youtube Channel coming real soon!🎥
An absolute scorcher of a day today. Perfect for a run in the Vauxhall Viceroy. It’s first since the trip to the Waterloo Classics meet in London a few weeks ago. So it was due a spin to blow out the cobwebs. It’s the perfect classic for a relaxing cruise!
Take to the Road is taking part in a trial over the next few months with Redex, to see how it works with our Jaguar XJ8 X308. The Jag 3.2ltr V8 does like to drink so it will be interesting to see how it responds to some fuel additive.
So Redex have sent their Advanced Fuel System Clean Up and a supply of their Petrol System Cleaner. I'll be recording the Jaguars mpg figures over the coming weeks and will be noting any performance changes. You can follow progress over the next few months on the website. And I'll be posting updates here too.
A slightly different #FiatFriday with a few x1/9s and a Beagle. That is my mutt Archie. He was about 1 years old give or take when those pics were taken. He loves going for a blast in the Bertone! Must do a video with him in it. He is hilarious especially when those ears flap about in the wind😂

The latest episode of Take to the Roads Garage is now live on the YouTube Channel. In this one I change the oil in the Alfa Spider. Big thanks to Duckhams for suppling their classic motor oil for the Alfa!
You know in The 5th Element when Leeloo says “Multipass!”? Well that’s what I think every time I look at this Stratos pic. Except replace Multipass with “Multiwing!” And say it with the accent as well😆

A couple of detail shots of the impressive Bentley Blower Recreation that came along to the car meet I organised at the weekend. This time the saying “they don’t make cars like that anymore” doesn’t apply.

When you organise a car meet its handy to have a few classics to bring along. Today the Alfa Spider and the Bertone x19 were side by side for the first time in ages. And the Alfa came back from the trimmers this morning. Just in time for the meet! More on the changes soon!
And a few for shots from today’s car meet. An awesome Chevy pickup truck and a Plymouth Hotrod with a Ford smallblock👌And the Gilbern T11 which has the honour of being a Take to the Road feature film car! Was cool seeing it again😎
Organised my first ever classic car meet today! Really pleased with the turn out with a great mix of classics. Weather couldn’t have been better either☀️
The famous British oil brand Duckhams is back! And they have very kindly given us some of their Classic Q20W-50 oil to help service our cars for Take to the Roads Garage! I'm looking forward to trying it in my Alfa Spider and the Vauxhall Viceroy. So stay tuned for some videos coming on the YouTube Channel soon.
Oh and the collector's edition tins look great! They will be keepers for the man cave for sure!
Got to love a brown Austin Metro! This one was very tidy for a 1983 example. The bumper aerial seemed a nod to those Japanese imports which have a similar gizmo in that spot. An ideal car for zooming around London. When not stuck in traffic of course.
Micro cars hail from a time when motoring had to be as frugal as possible. Which spawned many quirky compact little cars. Here's our film with the Hammond family who have a superb museum of little micro and bubble cars 🚗🏎
Studebaker was one of the great American auto manufacturers. And the GT Hawk was one of their coolest 2 door coupes. Here's our film with not one but two GT Hawks... and one of them has an Avanti R2 Supercharger! It sounds awesome👌🎥
Had the Alfa out for some filming this afternoon, in between rain showers. Prepping it for a future video which will show some of the changes planned for the S3 Spider. Long over due changes that will make it a nice car! Fingers crossed!🤞
Here's a rather special #Fiat500 for #FiatFriday. This is the Boxer 500 (not its official name but I think it works).
It has got a mid mounted 1.4ltr Alfa Boxer engine! 😎Which means it is running around 90BHP, give or take. It is a bit of a beast 💪All going to plan this one will be featured on the YouTube Channel later in the year 👌
One of the cool things about London based Pimlico Plumbers are their vintage vans. Which they still use on the job in the capital. They are a great way to promote the business and keep old vintage work vans on the road. Like this 1958 Fordson. Though on Saturday it was having the afternoon off at the Waterloo Classics meet. A well earned rest!

This was an interesting weekend spot. A 2008 Sebring International Exalt. It is basically a kit car that draws inspiration from the Austin Healey 3000, though buyers had the option of a factory built car as well. Sebring make more traditional homages to the Big Healey, but the Exalt was given a modern update. Under the hood is a 3.0 V6 (probably a Jaguar unit). Something a bit different and an interesting take on the classic Big Healey.
What a fine pair of Bristol’s! Nothing says “old money” better than an old Bristol. Especially a rather gorgeous 1953 403👌Later models like the 603 lost the elegant curves but gained the big Chrysler V8! Only 18mpg but with old money, it doesn’t matter!
The Porsche 928 was one of the most advanced GT sports cars ever when it was launched in 1977. Last year it celebrated its 40th anniversary. Here's our tribute film to the #landshark 🎥
Take to the Road has been interviewed by @jardinemotorsuk. I chat to them about my very first, a trusty 1993 VW Golf 1.9 diesel. Have a read over on their website.
Thanks to Jardine Motors for the interview!
And a few more shots of the Alfasud from the Waterloo Classics meet. The “Turismo internatzionale” with its boxer engine is considered by many to be one of the best handling Alfa’s ever. It sure looks the business!

The S3 Spider also stopped off at Auto Britalia this afternoon to say thanks for the distributor to coil lead and spare Bosch coil module. Without it the #Alfa wouldn’t have made it out today. It’s always good to chat with Ian at the garage. He knows his stuff especially old Alfa’s! Picked up a few tips from him which will come in handy.
While at Fourways Classic Cars today I got the chance to peak at a holy grail car. A real #Datsun240Z 432!! This is one of the rarest Z cars. Only 420 were made. And its the only one in Europe! Its got the hakosuka GT-R engine. Basically a Super Z. Super cool & worth a fortune!
The #Alfa S3 Spider had its first drive of 2018 today. It stopped off at Fourways Classic Cars to have an appraisal for some bodywork. Nothing major, just a bit of tidying up. For an old Alfa it is actually pretty solid.
And the Alfa was in good company during the visit! In for some work was a very nice Aston Martin #DB7 Vantage and a real #Lotus 11! There are a lot of replica examples out there so it was pretty special to see a genuine Lotus 11 in the flesh. They are worth a pretty penny too!👌😎👌
It was an absolute scorcher in London today for the Waterloo Classics monthly meet. There was an ace selection of classics on display. The sun brought them all out. And there were lots of favorites to chose from!
Plus the #VauxhallViceroy was making its first appearance at the London meet. It managed the heavy traffic in the capital with ease! The auto box and power steering make it an easy car to drive in the city. Despite its size. The only thing it was missing today was air con. It was a bit warm!
So this afternoon the Jag XJ8 and Italian specialists Auto Britalia came to the Alfa Spiders rescue. They had a spare distributor/coil wire and plug from an old S3. Fitted it and the Spider tasted it’s first sunshine of 2018. Phew! Now to crack on with all the other jobs!
